Beginner Project: Beginner Triangle Shawl!!

This simple pattern is a great one.  Your yarn selection will drastically change the look of your finished scarf, and you can customize the pattern to create anywhere from a short scarf to full, long shawl!  


In-person, 2-hour lesson @ Giant Eagle 's Market District in Green (1700 Corporate Woods Pkwy, Uniontown, OH 44685)


Sunday, January 25 (12-2pm)

Class Size: up to 6 students

Skill Level:  Beginner 

Cost: $20


Prerequisite: You must be familiar and comfortable withbat least single crochet stitches.  That's it!


Beginner level / my first scarf


This pattern uses:

  • double crochet
  • slip stitches
  • crocheting in clusters (multiple stitches in space/stitch)
  • binding/finishing off
  • optional fringe  edging instruction


Materials you need (not included):  

>>450-800 yards of any yarn of your choice.  DK weight yarn is recommended, but can be anywhere from sock weight to bulky yarn will work.  

>>crochet hook (2 sizes larger than your yarn label suggest)

Crochet Club // Hang & Hook

Cost: FREE, in-person, 2-hour lesson


Sunday,  January 25 (2-4pm)

Class Size: unlimited 

Cost: Club meets are all free!

Join Marissa for a Crochet Club meet!  Bring your own hook(s), yarn and whatever you want to work on.  Hang out with other fellow crocheters, with the perk of having me on hand if you need help.

This 2-hour session will be located at upstairs Café area @Giant Eagle's Market District (in Green) and will take place on Sunday, January 25 (12-2pm). This is an individual club meet, and this club session is free, but registering to reserve your seat let's me know how many will be in attendance!  

This is not a First Learn to Crochet Class. So if you are a true newbie, this is not the best way for you to learn to crochet.  

Again, please register prior to the class at lelefox.com to reserve a spot.

Learn to Crochet: Lesson #1

Crochet class, learn to Crochet, yarn, crochet hook

Cost: $20, in-person, 2-hour lesson


This course provides an introduction to the fundamental principles of crochet, teaching students how to create a slip knot,  foundation chain, single & double crochet stitches, as well as counting of stitches & finishing techniques. 


 *Although the course focuses on developing skills rather than completing a particular project, students will gain essential beginner knowledge.  Most students opt to make a simple swatch or even finish a washcloth during this class.


Materials you need (not included):  

>>any skein of worsted or aran weight yarn (acrylic works great, you may opt for cotton if you want to try for a washcloth)

>>crochet hook (size needed will be what is suggested for your yarn selection -  check your yarn labels)


Extra Materials provided: 

>>Crochet Reference Guide (7-page PDF digital file, provided on first day of class)

I have one opening every week for one on one private lessons:

Need help with a tricky crochet project or learning a new technique? This personalized session is perfect for beginners who want to learn the basics, intermediates looking to expand their skills, or advanced crocheters needing specific guidance. Work one-on-one with Marissa, who will tailor the session to meet your needs. 


Bring yarn & a hook, your project, and questions, and she will help you troubleshoot, refine your skills, and grow your confidence.


Flexible Scheduling:

Can't make it on Wednesdays? No problem! I'm 

happy to arrange one-on-one sessions or group crochet parties at a time and location that works for you. Various meetup spots are available—just ask!

Learn to Crochet: Lesson #2

Crochet class, learn to Crochet, yarn, crochet hook

Cost: $20, in-person, 2-hour lesson


This course introduces the half double crochet stich, increases, decreases, and demonstrates a variety of places stiches can be made, including post stitches and FLO & BLO stitches.  


Additional topics covered.. 

  • a brief introduction to pattern reading
  • understanding stitch anatomy
  • stitch marker usage 
  • gauge assessment


* this course focuses on developing skills rather than completing a particular project, but a few beginner-level patterns are included with this course for immediate application of skills learned (listed below).


Materials you need (not included):  

>>any skein of worsted or aran weight yarn

>>appropriate sized crochet hook (check your yarn labels)


Extra Materials provided: 

>>Three (3) beginner-level crochet patterns, written by your instructor (Tawashi Scrubbie Spiral, Simple Shawl & Simple Slouch Hat)

This hands-on clinic is designed for up to three students seeking personalized guidance and help with their crochet projects. Whether you’re stuck on a tricky pattern, need help mastering a challenging stitch, or want advice on finishing techniques, the Crochet Clinic provides tailored support to help you work through your crochet challenges with confidence. Bring your current projects, patterns, and questions, and enjoy the opportunity to learn in a relaxed, supportive environment. 


This clinic is suited for all skill levels, from beginners needing foundational assistance to seasoned crocheters tackling complex designs.


NOTE:  This class is for project or skill-building help only and is not for those who want to learn to crochet.
